FRANXINI FURTHER EDUCATION
We empower researchers to engage in constructive dialogue with political decision-makers.
Franxini's further education programs are aimed at researchers at all career levels and from all disciplines at Swiss universities and universities of applied sciences.
Our courses focus on practical knowledge of Swiss politics and science-policy work – so that researchers can use their expertise to help shape change and institutions that benefit society as a whole.
In particular, they
-
develop a practical understanding of Swiss politics;
-
learn where, when and how to get involved in the political process and who the relevant stakeholders are;
-
understand the role of research and politics;
-
receive practical tips for communicating with political actors.
Practical exercises provide the opportunity to apply the theoretical knowledge directly.
Learn how science, politics,
and the administration work together
Boot camps and simulations
Boot Camp – Sprint
Franxini Boot Camp – Sprint provides an overview in one day: Researchers receive the basics on the Swiss political system and learn where, when, and how they can effectively get involved. The focus is on conveying the most important contents and an intensive exchange on the topics «Sciences and Politics» and «Participation in Political and Public Discourse».
Boot Camp – Marathon
Franxini Boot Camp – Marathon is an in-depth course over 2.5 days with practical training elements. The researchers learn the basics of the Swiss political system and where, when, and how they can constructively get involved. The contents of the two thematic areas «Science and Politics» and «Participation in Political and Public Discourse» are immediately deepened and practiced through practical training elements.
Simulation - Expert Hearing in a Parliamentary Committee
The Franxini simulation is a half-day course in which researchers are given the opportunity to leave their familiar role as scientists and simulate a committee hearing in the Swiss parliament. To this end, an introduction to the Swiss political system and impact-oriented communication at the beginning of the workshop provides participants with the necessary knowledge and practical tips. These are then applied immersively in the simulation.
